Shaping
Sounds
// installation, collaboration, exhibition work, 2023
This interactive installation explores the relationship between sound and visual form by translating volume and frequency into dynamic shapes. Visitors can experience this process in real time by speaking or making sounds into a microphone, directly influencing the visuals. Each interaction produces unique forms, creating an ongoing dialogue between the visitor and the system.
The visuals are generated in TouchDesigner and displayed on a flat screen, where abstract shapes shift and transform according to pitch, rhythm, and intensity. The installation invites visitors to experiment and become more aware of their voice and presence in the space.
Visitors can also take small postcards featuring shapes generated through sound. These forms are inspired by the Bouba/Kiki phenomenon, which explores the intuitive connection between sound and visual perception.
